The Last Five Years

The Last Five Years is a musical written by Jason Robert Brown, inspired by his own failed marriage.

The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress.

The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie's story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met) and Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding scene in the middle as their timelines intersect.

Artform are delighted with the audience feedback received for our most recent production:

"After years of waiting to see a production of The Last Five Years, I finally managed to last night at the Broadway Studio Theatre and wow. What a story, what a score! Experiencing it live has to be one of the most stirring experiences I've had in a while. The next one will be Merrily We Roll Along which is another on my list of things to see!"

"Amazing, mindblowing performance by both stars... my mouth still open in awe!!!"
